Previously, the nursery and Y1 children at Oasis Primary Academy had a critical lack of space, which wasn’t being utilised properly. The classroom layout was detrimental to learning; there was a serious lack of bathroom and teacher facilities and no outside space for the children.
The solution provided by Concept was a complete reconstruction of the 2 classrooms by first demolishing the separating walls and then relocating the WC area to adjoin both classrooms. The new and improved WC would now easily accommodate both year groups. A brand new, single storey extension was constructed to house a kitchen and WC area for the teachers. Alongside the extension we built a beautiful, covered decking area for the children to enjoy outdoor learning.
As a company that specialises in fast track contracts we were able to work within the strict time constraints of the school’s summer holidays and meet the September deadline. We did this by resourcing the project, working weekends and increasing the project’s manpower, doing whatever it took to complete on time.
When a problem arose with the delivery of the bathroom vanity units, we created temporary ones until the units arrived 4 weeks into term. Once delivered, we went back to fit the units and finish the job.
